What the AI Can Do¶
Once connected, your AI client can perform any of the actions below. You don't need to know the technical names - just describe what you want in plain language, and the AI picks the right action.
Inventory search & details¶
- Search your inventory by keyword, type, price range, or status.
- Pull full details on a specific listing, including make/model/year and every other field you've configured.
- List every inventory type on your site, along with its statuses and fields - useful when the AI needs to know what's available before creating something new.
"Show me every motorcycle listed under $10,000." "What's the current price and status on listing #4521?"
Updating listings¶
- Change a listing's price, status, or description.
- Create a new listing (title, price, description). Vehicle details like make/model/year are added as a follow-up step, not at creation.
- Move a listing to the trash (recoverable, same as deleting it from the WordPress admin).
"Mark the 2021 Silverado as sold." "Create a new listing for the RV that just came in, price it at $42,000."
Vehicle details & fields¶
- View and update a listing's fields (make, model, color, condition, and any custom field you've set up).
- Create, edit, or delete the fields themselves for an inventory type - for example, adding a new "Certified Pre-Owned" toggle or a "Trim Level" dropdown.
- Manage the option lists behind dropdown/checkbox/color fields (add, rename, or remove an option like a color swatch or a make).
"Set the color on listing #4521 to Midnight Blue." "Add a 'Certified Pre-Owned' checkbox field to my Cars inventory type."
Pricing & discounts¶
- View a listing's price, original price, current discount, and any fees.
- Apply or remove a discount (fixed amount or percentage).
- Turn on or adjust a fee or discount that's already set up for that inventory type (like a documentation fee).
"Apply a $2,000 discount to listing #4521." "What fees are available on my RV inventory, and are any enabled on this one?"
Photos¶
- View, add, remove, and reorder a listing's photos.
- Optimize a photo (compress it) or convert it to WebP/AVIF, the same actions as the "Optimize"/"Convert to WebP"/"Convert to AVIF" buttons on your Media Library page.
- Remove a photo's background.
These photo actions use Dealer.Pics credits
Optimizing or converting a photo uses 1 credit; removing a background uses 5. Every one of these is processed by Dealer.Pics, not instantly - the AI queues the job and checks back for the result.
"Remove the background from the first photo on listing #4521." "Convert all the images on this listing to WebP." (uses 1 credit per image)
SEO¶
- View and set a listing's SEO focus keyword and meta description.
"Write an SEO-friendly meta description for the 2024 KTM 390 Duke listing."
VIN decode¶
- Decode a VIN into its make, model, year, and other details.
VIN decoding uses credits
Each decode draws from your account's VIN-decode credit balance - it's not a free lookup.
"Decode this VIN: 1HGCM82633A004352."
Leads¶
- Log a new customer inquiry against a listing.
- View one lead, or list every lead for a listing or an inventory type.
- Update a lead's status, notes, assignment, or follow-up date.
- Archive a lead (reversible) or permanently delete one (not reversible).
"Log an inquiry from John Smith about listing #4521, he wants a callback." "Show me every new lead from this week."
Badges¶
- Assign or remove a listing's badge (like "New Arrival" or "Price Drop").
What the AI can't do (yet)¶
- Look up an existing customer/contact record.
- Make bulk changes across many listings at once (e.g. "raise every truck's price by 2%") - this is intentionally not available yet, since one mistake in a bulk request could affect a lot of inventory at once.
- Add or edit a video in a listing's gallery.
Reviewing what the AI has done¶
Every action is recorded, whether it succeeded or failed. Check Dealer.ms → AI Actions in your WordPress admin to see a running log: what was done, when, by which user's key, and the result.
Permissions¶
The AI can only do what the WordPress user behind the connection is allowed to do. If your account can't delete inventory, neither can the AI acting on your behalf. If an action seems to be refused, check that your account type has the relevant permission under Dealer.ms → Settings → Account Types.
