PDF Builder

The PDF Builder extension allows you to easily generate printable PDF versions of your vehicle listings. It creates shareable documents containing key details about the vehicles in your inventory — pricing, descriptions, and images. Whether you're producing offline brochures, email-friendly attachments, or simply need a hard copy of a listing, the PDF Builder gives your customers a polished, consistent format.

This documentation walks you through the setup, configuration, and best practices for using the extension to its fullest potential.

Requirements

Requirement Value
DMS version 1.0.0 or newer
License Starter or higher
Page builder Elementor, for building the PDF template
Visitor's browser A current desktop or mobile browser — generation runs client-side

How it works

  1. You design a PDF template in your page builder, the same way you build any other DMS template. See PDF Templates.
  2. You select that template on the listing type, along with page size, resolution, and other output settings. See Settings.
  3. You place a download link on your listing template. See Adding a PDF Link.
  4. A visitor clicks it and the PDF is built and downloaded.

PDFs are generated in the visitor's browser

The document is assembled client-side rather than on your server. That has consequences worth knowing up front:

  • No server load. A hundred people downloading brochures costs your hosting nothing.
  • Generation takes a few seconds and depends on the visitor's device. A long template at high resolution takes noticeably longer on a phone.
  • Nothing is stored. Each download is built fresh, so a template change takes effect immediately with no cache to clear.

The engine only loads on listing pages whose type has a PDF template configured, so pages without one carry no extra weight.

What you can put in a PDF

PDF templates use a focused set of elements rather than the full page builder library — the layout has to work on a fixed page, not a scrolling screen. Listing data, images, text, and a dedicated QR code element are all available.

The QR code is the one worth planning for: a printed brochure that links back to the live listing turns a piece of paper into a route back to your site.
