Fees & Discounts¶
Fees add to a listing's price; discounts subtract from it. Together they let you show a final price that reflects doc fees, prep charges, promotions, or markdowns - without hand-editing every listing's price.
Set the defaults for a whole inventory type at [Your Type] > Settings, and adjust them for a single listing on that listing's Pricing panel.
Fixed or percentage¶
Each fee or discount is either:
- Fixed - a set dollar amount (e.g. a $199 documentation fee).
- Percent - a percentage of the price (e.g. 5% off).
Defaults per type, overrides per listing¶
There are two levels:
- Type defaults - set the fees and discounts that should apply to a whole inventory type in [Your Type] > Settings. These apply to every listing of that type automatically.
- Per-listing overrides - on an individual listing's Pricing panel, adjust or override the defaults for just that listing.
This way you set common charges once, and only touch the exceptions.
The final price¶
DMS calculates a final price = base price, plus fees, minus discounts. That final price is what shoppers see and what feeds into shortcodes and elements:
[dms_final_price]- the calculated total.[dms_fees_total]/[dms_discounts_total]- the combined fee and discount amounts.[dms_listing_fee]/[dms_listing_discount]- a specific named fee or discount.
See Using Shortcodes for placement.
Price shows $0 or a fee is missing?
If a price shows $0, the listing has no base price set. If a specific fee or discount doesn't appear, its name/id may not exist on that listing.
Next: set the base price and per-listing overrides in Managing Listings, or configure type defaults in Settings.
