Troubleshooting

The element shows nothing on a listing

Both City MPG and Highway MPG are empty on that listing. The element renders nothing rather than an empty container, so there's no gap to notice.

Enter at least one value and it appears.

Also check:

  • The element is on a VDP or SRI template, not a general page. A listing must be in context.
  • The extension is active in DMS → Extensions, and your license is Starter or higher.

Only one figure shows

Expected when only one is filled in. Each value renders independently, so a listing with just a highway rating shows just that.

If both are entered but only one appears, re-check the listing — a field containing a space or a non-numeric entry may not have saved as you'd expect.

The Fuel Efficiency panel isn't on the edit screen

Confirm the extension is active and your license is Starter or higher. The panel is added automatically; there's nothing to enable.

If a custom admin layout is hiding panels, check the screen options for the listing edit page.

The unit is wrong or shouldn't be there

Unit is set on the element, not on the listing — so it's the same text on every vehicle using that template.

Change it there for a different unit, or clear it entirely to hide it. Since it's free text, L/100km and km/L work exactly like MPG.

Values look wrong after an import

The fields accept numbers. A feed sending 28 MPG or 28.0 mpg into a numeric field can store something unexpected.

Check what your import is mapping into City MPG and Highway MPG, and strip units from the source column so only the number arrives — the unit is added at display time.

Figures show for electric vehicles

Only listings with values entered display anything, so an EV showing figures means values were entered on it — most often from an import mapping a column that isn't empty for those vehicles.

Clear the values on those listings, or adjust the import so the columns are only mapped where they apply.

The icon is too large

The image renders inline between the two figures at its natural size. Upload it at the size you want it displayed, or constrain it in your own CSS via .dms-fuel-efficiency-icon.

Styling changes aren't showing

  • Re-save the template after changing style settings.
  • Clear any page cache — VDP markup and its generated CSS are often cached.
  • Check you edited the right element if the same template holds more than one instance.

The layout looks cramped in search results

The element carries a title, description, icon, labels, values, and units — more than a search result row usually has space for.

Clear the Title and Description, and consider clearing Unit too. That leaves two labelled numbers, which fits a card without pushing the row taller.
