Managing Listings¶
A listing is a single item in your inventory - one vehicle, boat, or whatever your type sells. This guide covers adding, editing, and organizing them.
Listings live under each inventory type: [Your Type] > All [Type] to see them all, or Add New to create one.
Adding a listing¶
Go to [Your Type] > Add New. You'll see a familiar WordPress editor with DMS panels for the listing's details. The exact fields depend on how your inventory type was set up, but the standard panels are:
| Panel | What goes here |
|---|---|
| Title | The listing's name/headline (e.g. "2022 Toyota Camry SE"). |
| [Type] Details | The spec fields for this type - the tabs and fields configured on the type. |
| [Type] Description | The long description shown on the detail page. |
| [Type] Categories | Assign the makes, models, conditions, and other filter options. See Categories. |
| Pricing | The price, an optional original/compare-at price, and any fees or discounts. See Fees & Discounts. |
| Badge | Attach a label like "Sale" or "New Arrival". See Badges. |
| Video | An optional featured video for the detail page. |
| Gallery | The listing's Gallery Items - photos, videos, and custom HTML snippets. See Gallery items. |
When you're ready, set the status and Publish. A published listing appears on your search results page and gets its own detail page.
Gallery items¶
The Gallery panel holds the listing's Gallery Items. An item isn't only a photo - each one can be:
- A photo - uploaded from your media library, or added by image URL.
- A video - shown inline in the gallery.
- A custom HTML snippet - your own code, for embeds or special content.
Drag items to reorder them. The first photo is usually the main/featured one shown on search result cards, so lead with your best shot. Well-lit, consistent photos make the biggest difference to how your inventory looks, so add several per listing.
Group your gallery
Gallery items can be sorted into gallery categories (for example Exterior, Interior, Engine) using Manage Categories in the panel. These are separate from the listing Categories shoppers filter by.
Pricing¶
Set the Price in the Pricing panel. You can also set:
- An original price to show a strike-through "was/now" comparison.
- Fees and discounts - add-ons or reductions that adjust the displayed total. Defaults come from the type's settings and can be overridden here per listing. See Fees & Discounts.
If a listing shows $0 or no price, it simply has no price set.
Status¶
Every listing has a status - Available, Sale Pending, Sold, and any custom ones you've added. The status controls how (and whether) the listing appears to shoppers. Change it right on the listing, or manage the available states under [Type] > Statuses. See Statuses.
Categories & badges¶
- Categories are the filterable attributes (make, model, condition...). Assign them in the Categories panel so shoppers can find the listing. See Categories.
- Badges are eye-catching labels. Attach one manually here, or let badge rules apply automatically. See Badges.
Editing and bulk actions¶
All [Type] is the management list. From here you can:
- Search and filter to find listings.
- Click a listing to edit it.
- Select several and apply a bulk action (e.g. trash).
- Duplicate a listing to quickly create a similar one without re-entering everything.
Organizing with groups¶
To bundle related listings together (a promotion, a lot, a collection), use Groups - see Groups.
Next: set up the attributes shoppers filter by in Categories, or control pricing add-ons in Fees & Discounts.
