Troubleshooting

A listing's figures don't appear in the graphs or totals

The reporting only includes listings that have both a purchase price and a purchase date. Missing either, the listing is skipped entirely — its expenses and income won't show up anywhere on the Income & Expenses page, even though they're saved on the listing.

Fill both in on the listing's Purchase Data card, or use the Incomplete Data panel on the Income & Expenses page.

This is why an expense you know you entered can seem to vanish: the expense is fine, the listing just has no purchase date to anchor it to.

The sale price isn't counted as income

A sale price is only counted once a Sale Date is set. Entering the price alone leaves it out of the totals.

Set the sale date and the amount appears on the timeline at that date.

Profit looks wrong or negative

Work through these:

  1. Is the vehicle sold? An unsold vehicle has purchase costs and no sale income, so negative profit is correct.
  2. Are all expenses entered? Profit is only as accurate as the line items behind it.
  3. Check invoice dates. A line item dated outside the selected timeframe is excluded from that view. Clear the timeframe to see everything.
  4. Check for duplicates. An expense entered twice — once as a line item and once folded into the purchase price — double-counts.

Net Taxes is negative

Expected while a vehicle is in stock. Taxes paid on the purchase and on expenses subtract; taxes collected on income and the sale add. Before the sale there's usually nothing on the collected side.

If it stays negative after a sale, check that Sale Taxes were entered on the Sale Data card.

Taxes don't calculate on a line item

Tax amounts are worked out using the tax rates configured in your DMS settings. With no rates configured there's nothing to apply.

Check your DMS tax settings first, then re-open the line item — the tax inputs are generated from those rates.

An expense appears at the wrong point on the timeline

Line items are placed by Invoice Date. Left blank, an income or expense item falls on the vehicle's purchase date.

If a batch of items all cluster at the purchase point, they were most likely saved without invoice dates. Edit them and set real dates for a truer timeline.

Fixed in an earlier version

Versions before 1.1.1 applied that fallback to expenses but not to income, so an income item saved without an invoice date was left off the graphs entirely. Updating places those items correctly with no re-entry needed.

Vendor autocomplete doesn't offer a vendor I've used

The vendor list builds from names as they're entered, and is matched exactly — "ABC Auto" and "ABC Auto." are two separate entries.

Pick from the suggestions where possible rather than retyping, so the list stays clean.

The CSV download shows an invalid nonce message

The download link is tied to your session and expires. Reload the Income & Expenses page and click the button again.

If it recurs immediately, the admin page is probably being served from cache — exclude the WordPress admin from any page caching.

The Incomplete Data panel is missing

It only appears when at least one listing is missing a purchase or sale price. Nothing missing means no panel, and the graph card widens to fill the row.

The Income & Expenses menu item isn't there

  • Confirm the extension is active in DMS → Extensions and that your license is Standard or higher. This extension requires Standard, not Starter.
  • The page sits under each listing type's own menu, not under a global DMS menu — look under the type you want to report on.

Figures changed after editing a listing's price

Only the potential profit figure follows the asking price; recorded income, expenses, and actual profit don't move. If the totals shifted, something else was edited at the same time.
