Financing Calculator Element¶
Adding the element is done by dragging or selecting the Financing Calculator element into your page builder's content:

The element is available on every template and page type, so it can go on a VDP, a standalone finance page, or anywhere else in your content.
Settings¶
Every setting here is a default — it pre-fills the field, and the visitor can change it.
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Cost Value | Loaded into the cost field. Leave blank to load the current listing's price. |
| Down Payment | Loaded into the down payment field. |
| Down Payment Type | Whether the down payment value above is a flat Number or a Percent of the cost. |
| Interest Rate | The annual interest rate used in the calculation, as a percentage — enter 6.9, not 0.069. |
| Loan Years | The length of the loan in years. |
| Payment Frequency | How often payments are made: Monthly, Bi-Weekly, or Weekly. |
Cost Value and the current listing¶
Leaving Cost Value blank makes the calculator adapt to whichever vehicle is being viewed — the field fills with that listing's price.
This only happens on a VDP. On any other page there is no listing in context, so the cost field starts empty and the visitor has to type a figure before a result appears. If you're placing the calculator on a general finance page, set an explicit Cost Value so it opens with something meaningful.
Down Payment Type¶
With Percent selected, the down payment field is pre-filled with that percentage of the cost — entering 10 against a $20,000 vehicle starts the visitor at $2,000.
The conversion happens once, when the page loads. If the visitor then changes the cost, the down payment stays at the figure already in the field; it doesn't re-derive. Percent is a way to set a sensible starting point per vehicle, not a live-linked ratio.
Style tabs¶
Input Style controls the fields: Background Color, Border, Border Radius, Padding, and Typography.
Label Style controls the text beside each field, with its own Typography control.
How the payment is calculated¶
The calculator uses the standard amortization formula, with the annual rate divided across the chosen payment frequency:
- Amount financed = cost − down payment
- Number of payments = loan years × payments per year (12, 26, or 52)
- Payment = the level amount that repays that balance over that many payments at that rate
A 0% interest rate is handled as a straight division of the balance across the payments.
The result and the total number of payments appear below the fields once every required value is filled in. Currency symbol and its placement follow your DMS currency settings.
Shortcode¶
Registered with DMS as dms_financing_calculator:
[dms_financing_calculator cost="25000" down_payment="10" down_payment_type="percent" interest_rate="6.9" loan_years="5" frequency="12"]
frequency takes the payments-per-year value: 12 monthly, 26 bi-weekly, 52 weekly.
